There is also a monument called the Monument of peace at the Midst of the garden. Here, citizens can also see the replica of the award ever achieved by the city of Surabaya, such as the Wahana Tata Nugraha (annual national award for the well transportation planned city), Adipura Kencana (national award for the cleanest city in Indonesia) and others.

As a sign of peace of the two countries, in the monument is also fitted by the flag from both Indonesia and South Korea flag. Furthermore, the park will be added by Wi-Fi spot facility (Wireless Fidelity) for young people who want to surf the internet.

According to the South Korean Ambassador, Mr. Hu Yong Kim, this park is the proof of cooperation between Indonesia and Korea, especially Surabaya city government with the South Korean government. So this park was built as a symbol of friendship and world peace. The park was built in Surabaya because 10 percent of total Korean residents in Indonesia are living in Surabaya.

The park budget spend up to 600 million Rupiahs (around 75 million Won) which are all pure from the South Korean government. "That's why it's called the garden of Korea-Indonesia Friendship Park," As a Head of Parks and Clean Department of Surabaya City, Mr. Hidayat Syah said.

Construction of the park originated from South Korean idea who amazed and interested in seeing the progress of development of the many parks in this city. South Koreans themselves sent a letter and asked the South Korean government made a garden in Surabaya.

Surabaya city government, in the development of this park only provide the land. While for budgeting, design, etc. all done by the South Korean Government. However, an architect who worked on the park use the services of the Young Indonesian Architects.

Initially, the park is not located on Dr. Sutomo street, but at Panglima Sudirman Street, nearby bamboo spears Statue. But because most of the expatriate residents lived in the Citra Land area, and every day pass through Dr. Soetomo street, then Surabaya government choose the location. It is also not far from the Embassy of the United States. Besides, it's also a lot of embassies and representative offices of foreign countries there.
